No redeemer except God

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Under the inspiration of God, the writer of Psalm 49 pointed us toward the gospel.  He spoke of the futility of man trying to please God by some means so as to be saved.  Every religion except Christianity attempts that in vain.
The psalmist apparently understood the depth of our sin and the perfect price that must be paid to pay the penalty.  He says,
“None can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him—
For the redemption of their souls is costly.”
We would be willing to pay any price for the salvation of our family-our children and grandchildren.  But the price is too costly and our own sin forbids it.
But the psalmist clearly states the answer and our confidence:
“But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me.”
God is the only one who can redeem man from his sin.  And the only redeemer is our Lord Jesus Christ.  Though the price is costly, indeed, a princely sum, the Prince Himself paid the price.  His blood shed on our behalf was sufficient for God to accept the payment for our sin, save us, and receive us to Himself.
The writer of Hebrews, inspired by the same God, declares the same thing as he points to the futility of human effort and the requirement for the perfect sacrifice found only in Jesus Christ.
We can rejoice knowing the price has been paid and that we will be received by God because He has paid the costly price that we could not pay.
What a Savior!
Dale
