The revelation brings joy

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,
The scripture nearly always brings joy as we read God’s revelation to us.  This was true this morning as I read from Luke 10 regarding Jesus words to the seventy He had sent out.  They had returned amazed at what had been accomplished, that even the demons were subject to them.  Jesus gave them great authority and protection from the enemy, but told them that even beyond that authority and protection, they were to rejoice because their names were written in heaven.
He went on to explain that they knew the Father because the Son had chosen to reveal Him to them.  In the deadness of our sin, there is no way we could come to know the Father except that the Son has chosen to reveal Him to us.  He has opened our hearts to His truth, given us eyes to see and ears to hear so that we might know Him whom to know is life eternal.  Our names are written in heaven and we will kept eternally by the Father.
Is that reason for rejoicing today?   Many of us will face a difficult day today and perhaps have trials that test our faith.  Nevertheless, we will rejoice that our names are written in heaven and that we know the Savior.  He has lavished His love upon us and we can bask in that love despite the trials that come.
Rejoice with me,
Dale

Yes, the revelation brings joy! From Hebrews this a.m. “Both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of One, for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brothers.”  He who sanctifies is Christ as the firstborn Son of God, and those who are being sanctified are the believers of Christ as the many sons of God. Both the firstborn Son and the many sons of God are born of the same Father God in resurrection and have the same divine life and divine nature. So, He is not ashamed to call us brothers. It is a joy!

Amen! How often we forget how much joy is waiting in His presence! Even when He convicts us of sin, there is joy in knowing our own abasement and that He has overcome! Since we’re sharing, I found joy, gratitude, and satisfaction from Psalm 65 this morning:

“O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come. When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions. Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!”

(Psalms 65:2–4 ESV)
