Accepted in the Beloved

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,

The prophet, Ezekiel had a number of visions from the Lord. One of those is recorded over several chapters, beginning in chapter 40.  Ezekiel is given a vision of the temple of the Lord.  The temple is described in quite a bit of detail with measurements included.

After the description of the temple, Ezekiel was led in his vision to the gate facing east.  He saw a fantastic sight.  The glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east.  Ezekiel fell on his face as men often do when confronted with God Himself.  Ezekiel says the Spirit lifted him up and brought him into the inner court and “the glory of the LORD filled the temple.

God spoke to him, telling Ezekiel that Israel should put away their sin and He would dwell in their midst forever.  He went on to tell Ezekiel about sacrifices that should be made before the altar.  He described how the sacrifices should be made.  Then He said, “And when they have completed these days, then from the eighth day onward the priests shall offer on the altar your burnt offerings, and I will accept you, declares the Lord God.”

The Lord promised to accept them when the proper sacrifice had been made.  That is the only way acceptance by the Lord can be accomplished.  We are sinners from birth and are unacceptable in our current state.  God requires a perfect sacrifice be made to atone for our sin.  The perfect sacrifice was made by our Lord Jesus Christ.  By trusting in that sacrifice, we can be made acceptable to God.

Paul tells, in Ephesians 1, that God predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, in which He has made us acceptable in the Beloved.  Our great God has made us acceptable to Himself by offering the perfectly acceptable sacrifice.  He has done it all.  Rejoice, believer, that He accepts you in Christ.
