Observance of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday. Please use this weekend to examine yourself and your relationships with others according to 1 Corinthians 11:27-33, that we may together brightly reflect the unity of the body of Christ when we come together at the Lord’s table this Sunday.

Discipleship Hour Resumes: This Sunday, August 19. Join us weekly, 9:15-10:15 a.m., in the Education Building for D.I.G. children & youth ministry classes and adult classes. The following classes are being offered for adults:

  • God’s Grand Story: Survey of the New Testament. Teachers: Colby Jones, Wes Duggins: Location: Fellowship Hall
  • Faith, Evidence & Reason: Defending the Claims of the Christian Faith. Teachers: Jacob Brunton, Jeremy Sturdivant, Joel Duggins. Location: Room 200, Educational Building

Brown Bag Meet-N-Greet Luncheon for Andy & Abi Caudill: This Sunday, August 19, following the worship service, in Fellowship Hall. Join us for an informal time of fellowship with Andy and his new bride Abi as they have a rare opportunity to join us for this Lord’s Day. If you’d like to bless Andy & Abi with a wedding gift, a money tree will be provided since they will not have luggage space for larger gifts.

Welcome New Members: May the Lord grant us to walk in close covenant community with Trey & Erin Mangan and Steve & Dana Mittwede who were received into membership at the August members’ meeting. A current membership list can be downloaded here.

Encouraging Wednesday | Women Encouraging West: Wednesday, August 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. Ladies, the Women Encouraging Women ministry team invites you to join us again to assemble snack bags for the students of West Elementary. These bags will go home with West Elementary students each weekend to provide food for those students who may have a shortage of food at home. There is an item list on The City. Please select at least one item from this list and then drop it off in Fellowship Hall by this Sunday, August 19. Sandwiches provided for dinner. Questions? 2018 Fall Women’s Bible Study: Beginning this Fall 2018 and continuing through Spring 2019 we will enter into a two-part Bible Study in the book of Isaiah. Sign up in the Book Nook by this Sunday, August 19 for this wonderful time in the Word and reserve a copy of our companion study book, “Isaiah: The Lord Saves” by Kathleen Nielson. Meetings will be Mondays, September 10 – December 3, 7:00-9:00 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. Questions? See Linda Huffman.

Women Encouraging Women Mentoring: Women Encouraging Women would like to invite all ladies of Redeemer to join the mentoring ministry. If you are already participating in this ministry and want to shuffle to a different group for the next quarter (Sept-Nov) or if you are interested in joining for the first time, please fill out a form located in the foyer and place the form in the WEW box by this Sunday, August 19. You will be contacted via The City before September 1 with the names of the ladies in your mentoring group. Baked Goodies Needed for SWBTS Church Fair: Friday, August 24, by 5:00 p.m. Redeemer Church will set up a booth and greet incoming students at the annual Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Church fair. We’d like to have cookies, brownies, and other small baked goodies. If you’d like to supply a batch, please contact Gary Brumley. Baked goods need to be ready by Friday at 5:00 p.m. 

Men’s Breakfast: Saturday, August 25, 8:00-10:00 a.m., in Fellowship Hall. Gabe Gienger will be presenting a talk titled “Church Universal: A Guide to Fellowship in Polarized Age.” Please RSVP on The City.

Membership Matters Class: Sundays, September 2 – October 7, 9:15-10:15 a.m., in the Education Building. Membership Matters will provide you with information about Redeemer, as well as answer questions about what it means to be a believer in Christ. You will also have an opportunity to learn about how to get involved in our community of faith. Though this course is a prerequisite for membership at Redeemer, anyone can and is encouraged to attend. Sign up in the foyer or on The City.

2018 Women’s Retreat: Friday-Saturday, October 5-6, at Redeemer Church. Join us for Alive in Him: How Being Embraced by the Love of Christ Changes Everything taught by Sylvia Dipnarinesingh, Takiyah Ford, Linda Huffman, and Rachel Rogers. We will be blessed through worshipful music and testimonies, as well as good food, opportunities for fellowship, crafts, and other activities. Registration is $50, which includes four meals, a craft activity, and a resource book. Place a $20 deposit and receive the book immediately. If you are in need of scholarship help for registration or would like to contribute toward scholarships, please see Donna Dean,

Weekly Evans Plaza Outreach: Join us Tuesdays, 7:15 p.m., at Evans Plaza (next door to the Shamblee Branch Public Library – 1062 Evans Ave, 76104) for our time of food distribution and Gospel outreach. This is a weekly event. For more information contact Wes Duggins.
